What should I do about this?

Okay so I liked my friend since december/january when we met but soon after maybe 2 months after he met my friend and instantly liked her. of course this upset me because I liked him for 2 months and he only knew my friend for 2 days and instantly liked her. so After that I just gave up but then when my friend didn't like him back he started not liking her so I thought there was hope, but I found out he didn't want me to like him so he was mean to me on purpose. That broke my heart because we had hung out and spent time together so we remained friends but it went from him texting me everyday to him only talking to me once a month and never ignoring my friend, so should I remain friends or just forget about him?
